P - Pixelate

For today’s letter I went with Pixelate, and now before you even start, I know that these are technically “voxels” but I figure if a 100 million dollar movie can get away with it, then so can I.

So this was a lot of fun to make, as it’s not something I’ve done before, therefore learning something new was required. Which, as I keep saying is the whole point to these. So I had to figure out how to “Pixelate” things properly.

My first go wasn’t so great, I set it up so that the cube went from 1x1 to 2x2 to 3x3, and so on. Now I didn’t mind the look this gave me, but the depth of the cube kept jumping from fitting the proper dimensions when it lined up to going back to its full cube size. Which was more than a little jarring, so I had to do rethink it, and since I wanted the P to become clearer and clearer as the animation went on I opted to then double the bricks each step. 1x1, 2x2, 4x4, etc. As you can see, the end result was a far smoother transition!
