K - Kettle

For today’s letter, I decided to go with something that reminds me of home, a kettle.

Sure it might be a little odd for a kettle to remind of me home, but I can’t think of a period in my life when a cup of tea or coffee wasn’t present, it’s like some sort of universal comfort. Someone’s sad, have a tea, someone’s happy, have a tea, just need something after a cold day? Why not tea? Need something after a hot day? Somehow it’s still tea.

So, not only was it something I could do to remind me of home, but it also allowed me to try out some new animation tricks, the “Steam” was a new one, as mentioned in “Flag” I found that “real” simulations seemed off with the rest of the design so making fake real steam was a lot of fun.

Also figuring out how to do the water level in the kettle was a neat little challenge has it had to stay parallel with the ground while also moving and rotating. It’s little things like that that I’ll hopefully carry with me to later projects. That, and a nice cup of tea.
