Perhaps unsurprisingly today’s letter is “Water” and oh my God, do I kind of regret making this one a “realistic” water simulation.
As mentioned before when I did the flag simulations, realistic simulations do not want to loop properly, that doubly is an issue when doing water simulations, there’s just so much that needs to go right to get something passable.
I did, however, go with the realistic simulation this time around as “faking” it or animating it by hand because I thought the end result would look too fake, or wouldn’t read as water. So, I did a more “realistic” render and did most of the heavy lifting trying to figure out ways to get it to loop if not seamlessly, then as close as possible.
I can admit it’s not perfect, but it was my first crack at it, and think that should I ever do this again, I would have a better idea on how to set everything, so I guess you could say I learned something!
